Renewable Energy Project
the renewable energy project was established in al-Ahli Hospital in line with its policy of continuous development in the medical field and adopting all possible up-to-date service, and procedures that distigwish the hospital from its conterparts in palestine.
The idea of the project was from Engineer Mohammed Shawar Al-Tamimi, who made Al-Ahli Hospital the first to introduce a renewable energy project in terms of size in the country.
In 2008, due to the high energy bills in the hospital, whether electric used in all hospital facilities or the fuel bill to heat water to generate the necessary steam for several departments, especially for the Central Sterilization Department. having conducted a thorough technical study the hospital was able to obtain a grant From the European Union to establish a project for the renewable energy to produce an electric power from the sunlight with a capacity of (225) kilowatts/ hour, and the project of heating water also from sunlight with an equivalent capacity of (1.2) megawatts/ year.
This project can save the hospital large sums of the money annually. What is important in this respect is the introduction of clean energy to Palestine and the contribution to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions globally.
This project is the first at the national level and has contributed to community awareness towards renewable, sustainable and clean energy through several workshops held by the project organizers and participation in many conferences about in this topic.
