The Ministry of Health and Al-Ahli Hospital discuss mechanisms to support medical services and resume patient referrals
The Ministry of Health and the Al-Ahli Hospital discussed mechanisms to support medical services and resume patient referrals from government hospitals during a meeting led by the Director General of the Health Services Purchasing Department, accompanied by the Head of Medical Referrals for the southern region.
The discussions focused on the hospital’s financial crisis, including shortages of medicines and medical supplies, which are affecting service continuity. The hospital administration emphasized its commitment to continuing specialized services, particularly pediatric cardiac surgery, despite limited resources.
The Ministry representative highlighted the importance of cooperation with the hospital to ensure the continuity of care for referred patients and to mitigate the impact of the current crisis on the healthcare system. He also stressed efforts to protect the health sector and guarantee patients’ access to necessary treatment.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to resume referrals to Al-Ahli Hospital, especially for specialized services not widely available in the region, including nuclear medicine, cerebral catheterization, interventional radiology, and intensive care services.
